Proposed Health Care Bill

I am sure that everyone has formed an opinion on the Health Care Bill that is being debated within the halls of Congress and the Senate.  This year has been one of wonderment for me.  Not the wonderment a child might experience when going to Disney for the first time, or the wonderment of awaking to the sights and sounds of Christmas morning.  No, my wonderment is one of disbelief that we have elected such a group to our Congress and Senate.

From a failed Stimulus to the numerous TARP initiatives to the Auto Industry Bailout and subsequent partial government takeover to the Cash for Clunkers and now the Universal Health Care.  I believe it is time to say enough is enough.  I am not sure about you, but I have yet to see anything positive come of any of these grand schemes other than to prop up a handful of rich and powerful Americans.

One could argue that all this was done to save our economy and our country.  I will argue that those who have been left behind are no better for the TRILLIONS that you, I and our children will have to repay to China and other countries which we borrowed from.  Let's face it, the car that the lady in Indiana lost was not returned to her.  The home that the Family in Texas lost was not given back.  The list goes on but you get my point.  The damage was already done to the little man (or woman) and none of the 'initiatives' went to help them to retrieve what they had lost.

So, who did all the money go to?  Are the same people who were on the 'Richest People in America' in 2007 and 2008 still on that list?  My guess is that 95% still are.  Were you handed a new GMC vehicle for the money you 'gave'?  How about all the 'toxic debt' that was bought up by our Government?  How many foreclosures are being moved to clean up the market?  I know my father did not get his home or his job back.  Spent his entire life savings trying to do the RIGHT thing and be responsible but no stimulus to bail him out.

What is done is sadly done folks.  We will not get back what has already been doled out.  There will be no investigations as the public outcry has subsided - even if it had not, those alledgedly responsible are either too close to the lawmakers or are the lawmakers themselves (as reported time and time again).  We all know that our elected leaders do a poor job of holding their own accountable right?

Now we have a Health Care Bill that millions is being spent on to convince you it is the right thing to do.  Arms are being twisted and votes are being counted.  I wish I could say this has nothing to do with politics, but it is increasingly looking as if it is.  I have NO ISSUE with helping my fellow man when they need help, but I do not believe this plan a well thought out plan.  We can ill-afford to become more of a welfare state that we have been in the past four decades.

Those who are in need of medical care in the United States get care.  Granted that it may not be the same level of care that others enjoy.  This bill will not change that.  Oh, and by the way, your elected leaders will not participate in this new health care program (much like they do not participate in Social Security) - that should tell you something right there.

As Americans it is time that we all stand up and let our voices be heard.  I encourage you to write your elected leaders whether you are for or against the TRILLIONS already spent and the TRILLIONS they are about to decide on spending in the coming months.  They need to know that they will be held accountable.  Just ask them some simple questions such as:

- Are we going to see return from our bailout of GM and Chrysler?

- Will there be investigations by an independent counsel surrounding the mortgage industry and if so, will those fingered in the investigation be brought to justice regardless of there station?

- Where did the TARP and Auto Industry Bailout money go?  Do you as our elected leaders know where and how it was spent?

- Have you read (not your staffers) the Health Care Bill that is being bullied through?  If so, do you support?

At face value all of the above questions are simple.  I would be surprised if anyone who get anything other than a canned response from their elected leaders.  It is a sad state of affairs - it truly is.  Regardless of party affiliation, there are none who have come on record to demand accountability - no independent investigations - nothing folks.  Are we as Americans as the left leaning liberal Bill Mahr coins us 'Stupid'?

Like the little old lady in one of my favorite commercials of all times stated 'WHERE'S THE BEEF'?

Or better yet - the great Earl Pitts 'WAKE UP AMERICA'

This is our country.  OUR Fathers, Sons, Brothers, Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Children fought and died so that we can live in this great country and be able to speak our minds.  At this point I am simply calling a spade a spade.

Time for Americans to ensure our elected leaders speak for their constituents and not for the lobbyist, large donors or due to a political agenda.

Where is our candidate for change?  Is there truly one out there?
