Speaking of Facebook

Speaking of Facebook, it is a great place to not only network but also to keep in contact with past clients as well as to reconnect with friends and family that you may not have been able to reconnect with otherwise.

As Realtors it is a very powerful outlet to get your name and your services out to those who may be in the Real Estate Market.  That said, it is wise not to press a person just because they befriend you or accept your friend request - the last thing a potential client wants in to be spammed by an anxious Realtor and there is really no need to do so.

Over time people will get to know you or rather get a 'feel' about you and what you have to offer.  It is important that you are cautious about what you post on social networking sites.  Things such as vulgarity and distasteful jokes or comments should certainly not be posted. Conversely, you should BE YOURSELF vice being scripted so to speak.  I do not buy into the thought that you should not allow others who might be potential clients to know your values and beliefs.  I believe that it is a part of your fiber and should not be hidden.

In many of my blogs, I speak of our life here in Clarksville Tn.  I speak about the Clarksville TN Real Estate Market.  I speak about politics and religion from time to time.  Just because I share my thoughts does not make me a bad person, nor does it mean that I am closed minded.  It provides all who choose to read an insight of what makes me - my beliefs and values.  Contrary to what some might believe, this approach has helped me in life, my career in the Army and it continues to assist Pam and I in our Real Estate Profession.  Those who find us online, have the ability to choose with more insight than they otherwise would - nothing wrong with that.

A pointer to my Real Estate and Mortgage friends as well as anyone who is in a 'People Oriented' profession:  Don't close your profile on Facebook unless you are strictly there for Family and Friends.  Believe it or not, people do search Facebook for terms such as your name, Real Estate, Crye-Leike, Clarksville TN Real Estate, Clarksville, Clarksville Realtor (you get the idea).  Though you will come up in these searches, chances are if your profile is closed, the searcher will simply move on.

I am a humble man and believe in being ME (Reminds me of a Toby Keith song except I am not like Brett Farve).  You can take me as I am or you can move on - simple as that.  If you want first rate real estate service in the Clarksville TN or Fort Campbell KY area or if you simply want to share a thought or two, I am pleased to oblige either way.

As we progress in the era of social networking I can only imagine what is next - perhaps video introductions on your page?  Sounds a bit busy to me, but then again I never imagined twenty years ago that we would have progressed as far as we have.  Technology can be a great thing in both your personal and your professional life - everyone will choose how they will utilize these tools.

The Sky is the Limit and as always, just my thoughts.

Did you ever wonder, or did you simply take it for granted?

Did you ever wonder, or did you simply take it for granted that people really wanted you to answer the questions posed on the various Social Networking sites out there?  Yesterday evening, for some reason, when I logged into Facebook I was about to post something when I realized the question posed 'What's on your mind?'

As I thought about it, I wondered, do the 2,000 friends I have on Facebook really want to know what is on my mind?  Do they want to know that I had a great day caring for a couple of Families looking for a home in the Clarksville TN Real Estate Market?  Or that Pam and I went on two listing appointments the same day?

How about the fact that I still felt exhilarated from the 52.71 mile trek that two friends and I completed on Saturday in memory of one of my friends MSG Tre Ponder during the Soldier Ride Nashville 2009

Honestly, my mind races - I don't know how to relax my body much less my mind.  I am the consummate worrier over anything from ensuring our clients needs are met, to ensuring that I am being a good husband and father.  I am not, nor to I ever believe I could be perfect, but I certainly want to be the best person that I can be, thus I am constantly 'thinking' so to tell my friends 'whats on my mind' would be a diatribe that would be hardly understood by anyone but me.

That said, the question 'Whats on your mind?' is a profound question for me and one that I find trouble in answering in the small block provided by Facebook.

I think I will go over to Linkedin and answer the question there 'What are you working on now?' And then on to Twitter and answer the question there 'What are you doing?' Oh, and how about Flickr and answer the question...oh wait, they don't have any question!!  Now I am stumped.

So, my question to you is: Do you think about the question that is posed before responding or do you simply place an answer that is quick and possibly quirky?

Something to ponder.

God Bless!
